Hunters, vigilante kill kidnapper in gun duel, rescue seven abducted travellers in Ondo

  The agrarian community of Akunu-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State was over the weekend held in the jugular by kidnappers. The kidnappers who were armed to the teeth had abducted some travellers in the community and whisked them into the bush after sporadic gunshots to scare residents. However, the gunshots did not deter hunters, vigilante groups and youths in the community as they launched a manhunt to rescue the travellers who were seven in number.   With their knowledge of the terrains of the community, the hunters and the vigilante were said to have caught up with the kidnappers who fired shots at them. 2.6 million Nigerians displaced by insurgency, other factors – Commission for Refugees

  The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has revealed that there are currently more than 2.6 million displaced persons in Nigeria. The Commissioner, NCFRMI, Basheer Muhammad Lado, disclosed this at the flag-off of relief items to 7,500 displaced persons, held at the government house in Kano State yesterday. Lado said the displaced persons had been transverse across both the north and southern parts of the country. He said that President Muhammadu Buhari has continued support the Commission towards supporting the displaced population across the country, stressing that the Commission will continue to work assiduously in this regard.   The Middle Belt Forum, MBF, has described as orchestrated and unpatriotic, the distribution of a video clip alleging an illegal blocking of food items to the South from the north at a Jebba village in Niger State by some unidentified persons. The forum which claimed it opposes such actions warned that it was capable of creating a rift and widening the already fragile nature of Nigeria’s corporate existence.   The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has advised Nigerians to stop the panic-buying of Premium Motor Spirit. Interesting. “I’ve always been calm in the storm.” He, however, did not disclose reasons but it is likely the song was banned for the use of certain words. Some lyrics from the song are “Thunder fire you for when you cheated on me”, “E no go better for you”. Although it’s a breakup song, this may seem as offensive and a breach of NBC code.
