Benjamin Deshon Provo, a former employee of the rapper at Donda Academy, is accusing West of berating black employees and firing him for refusing to cut his dreadlocks in a fresh lawsuit.

Provo also claimed white staff members were paid $5 more per hour than black employees.

He further alleged that West had banned books about Black history at Donda Academy, including books about icons like Malcom X and Martin Luther King Jr., an allegation also made in an April 2023 lawsuit by former Donda Academy teacher Cecilia Hailey. That case is currently set to go to court in April 2025.

Provo is seeking damages for alleged discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation, labor code violations, and other claims.

Funeral arrangements for the burial of the late Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo have been released by his family.

Junior Pope and four other actors drowned after their boat capsized in the Anam River in Anambra State on April 10 while returning from a movie shoot.

Of the 12 individuals who boarded the ill-fated boat, only seven were rescued alive, while five died, including Junior Pope.

The details of funeral arrangements for the late actor, signed by Divine Odonwodo on behalf of the family, indicated that besides the April 23 requiem mass at Saint John-Mary Vianney Parish in Asaba, Delta State, another requiem mass is scheduled to be held at Christ the King Catholic Parish, G.R.A., Enugu, on May 13.

On May 14, an evening of tributes and candlelight will follow at Amadeo Event Centre in Enugu at 5 pm. A wake will follow on May 16 at his country home in Uwala Abaka, Ukehe, a community in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of the state.

Pope will be buried on Friday, May 17, at his country home after a burial mass at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Ukehe. Interment will follow immediately after the burial of the actor.

Adigwe is said to have died on Tuesday evening.

We spoke to Christine Gdula from Derbyshire Christian Police Association (CPA), to see what Christmas means to her. She said “Knowing the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated on Christmas Day, for many, stirs love, faith and hope in a brighter future.

“For us, Christmas is a time for celebration and to appreciate another year and what’s to come. Many will start their Christmas Day celebrations at Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, or during the important Christmas Day service.

“We appreciate that not everyone celebrates Christmas in the same way, so wish your holiday season to be a time of reflection, joy, and connection with loved ones, no matter how you spend it.

“May the beauty of this season fill your heart with happiness and your home with warmth, regardless of your traditions and beliefs. May you make beautiful memories in whatever way you choose to spend this joyous time.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Emma maintained that Ike had subjected her to abuse throughout their 17-year marriage. She recounted a specific incident at the hospital when their child was seriously ill, describing how Ike verbally berated her and physically assaulted her.

“There was a time we went to the hospital; my child was sick. We didn’t have money. And I was trying to negotiate with the hospital to treat the child, and we would pay later. It was taking a little bit of time, and he [Emeka Ike] just came in and started yelling at me, ‘You’re a fool. You don’t know how to do things. What’s all this? You can’t even talk to them. Who are they? They’re beneath you, and you’re allowing them to do this and all that.’

“And I got upset and said, ‘Sir, why are you being a jerk?’ And I went off into the car to sit down. Immediately he [Emeka Ike] was coming into the car; his punch was the first thing that I was seeing on my jaw.”

Matthew Perry toxicology report uncovers reason for death was "intense impacts of ketamine"

 

the beloved "Friends" sitcom star, died from the "acute effects of ketamine," according to an autopsy report released Friday by the Los Angeles County medical examiner. 

Perry, 54, was found unresponsive at his home on Oct. 28 "floating face down in the heated end" of the pool, the autopsy report said. The report says the death was accidental and that no signs of foul play were suspected. His cause of death is listed as the "acute effects of ketamine," with contributing factors listed as "drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects." (Buprenorphine is a medication used to treat opioid use disorder.)

The actor had gone out to play pickleball around 11 a.m. the morning of his death and returned home two hours later, witnesses told police in reports that were included with the autopsy. His assistant had gone out to run errands shortly afterward — the last time Perry was seen alive — and upon return found the actor dead, the report said. Police pronounced him dead at 4:17 p.m., the report said.

Perry struggled with addiction for many years, although he reportedly had been clean for 19 months, the autopsy report said. Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, with the last treatment a week and a half before his death, the autopsy report said. Perry had been responding to treatment and was "in good spirits," police said a witness told them in their incident report. 

Ketamine has been approved by the FDA as an anesthetic since the 1970s, and research shows it may help some patients when used as a medically-supervised treatment for depression and anxiety. Experts say it also has risks. The drug has a dissociative effect, seemingly separating the mind from the body, and can cause hallucinations. It is known for its use in nightclub and party culture. The federal Drug Enforcement Agency warns that an overdose of ketamine can cause unconsciousness and dangerously slowed breathing.

Trace amounts of ketamine were found in Perry's stomach, but the coroner said high levels of the drug were found in his blood: 3.54 micrograms per milliliter. These levels led the Medical Examiner's Office to conclude that Perry's cause of death was not from his prior infusion therapy —the drug's half-life is just 3 to 4 hours— but rather ketamine that was taken in another manner. How that happened, the autopsy report said, is unknown. 

Perry rose to fame with his role as Chandler Bing on "Friends," known for his eccentric mannerisms and quirky personality. He quickly became a fan favorite on the show, which aired for 10 seasons from 1994 until 2004. 

Perry wrote about his addiction in a memoir released last year, "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing," detailing his years of struggling to stay sober. He told CBS News in 2015 that "people don't understand that it's a disease," and that those with addiction should "get the help" and not blame themselves.

Popular Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, aka Hilda Baci, has said she can’t date or marry a man who knows how to cook.

She said she loves cooking, stressing that she doesn’t want a man who will outshine her in the kitchen.

The former Guinness World Record holder said her love language is a man ordering food for her.

Speaking in a viral podcast video making the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), Baci said, “I don’t want a man that knows how to cook. I don’t want it. I like cooking so much. My friends would tell you like Hilda would show you love, she will send you food. You will cook for you. That’s kind of one of the things I like to do for people that I care about, especially for my man.

“You can wake me up in the middle of the night and say, ‘Babe, I want a doughnut. I want meat pie.’ And I’m flying to the kitchen to make it for you. That’s my thing. I want a man that can order me food. If you don’t have a problem with ordering me food, I’m in love.”
