Justin and Hailey Believe in Marriage First Before Moving In Together
Hailey revealed that she and Justin “wanted to move in together” but both of them believed that they should tie the knots first. She further explained, “Moving in together and living together, and getting to share space with each other and just keep learning more about each other, just took away all the scary part of getting married.”
It can be remembered that Justin and Hailey briefly dated in 2016 before they parted ways. The couple then rekindled in 2018 and decided to get married in a New York City courthouse months later. In September 2019, they had a grand wedding ceremony in South Carolina, which they staged for their family and friends.
There is no denying that Justin and Hailey certainly love each other. With all that they’ve been through, hearing the wedding bells for the couple was the best of all. But was their marriage all part of her parent’s plan?
Why Did Justin Say Marriage With Hailey Was Arranged By Her Dad?
In a recent interview with guest host Demi Lovato on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Canadian revealed some truths behind his marriage to Hailey. Justin also answered some questions including how he and the model met. He said that they were first introduced when he was on the Today Show taping years ago.
The singer then jokingly admitted that his connection with Hailey might have been planned out by her parents. He went on to explain, “I’m pretty sure she didn’t want to be there. Her dad dragged her out of bed in the morning.”
Obviously, he was just joking around, but the 27-year-old star continued to clarify why he thought it was an “arranged” marriage. He said, “Looking back now, it was definitely an arrange marriage, like they set this whole thing up. Since she was raised Christian, it was like, ‘Oh, I want to introduce you to Justin and his mom. They have similar values and believe the same things. We think you guys would be good friends.’” Watch the clip below!

Justin And Hailey Use Quarantine Period To Work On Married Life
Meanwhile, the couple has been making use of the pandemic to work on their marriage. The 24-year-old model said in an interview with Elle that her marital relationship with Justin has improved significantly during the quarantine period since they have gotten to spend a lot of private time together.
Trying to expound her statement, Hailey said, “I try to be careful saying something like, ‘The good thing about the pandemic,’ because I know there’s been so much sadness and devastation. But over the last six years of my career, I’ve never gone this long without working. Quarantine has removed any expectations of work, and there is no pressure of having to be anywhere. It’s the same for Justin.”
In another report, a source told PEOPLE that the lockdown forced the couple to focus on their marriage and they “feel very lucky to spend so much time together.” The source revealed though Justin and Hailey acknowledge that the year is chaos, the “lockdown has been kind of a blessing” for them because it has helped them in working on their relationship.
