Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has declared her Grammy-winning colleague , Wizkid , as the king of Afrobeats . reports that there is an ongoing debate over the superiority of Afrobeats powerhouses Wizkid, Davido , and Burna Boy , otherwise called the “ Big 3 .” Speaking in a recent interview with Complex , Ayra Starr boldly declared Wizkid as the king of the genre. She explained that she decided to feature the Starboy crooner in her hit song ‘ Gimme Dat ’ because no one does “sexy Afrobeats” better than him. “Nobody else could have been right on that song [‘Gimme Dat’] aside from Wizkid. Even just his sonics and the sound, the chorus pattern feels very Wizkid; it feels very like sexy Afrobeats. And everybody knows Wizkid is the king of sexy Afrobeats,” she said.
